The size of the lake is about 800 meters in diameter that challenges many to swim across. It is suggested then that you have to be a fit swimmer if you want to try swimming across. The lake is surrounded by protected forest areas managed by Yaklom Protected Area Committee of Yaklom commune. The Yaklom Environment and cultural Center standing by the lake exhibits hilltribe handicrafts and tells activities of the committee.
