Birds of Yaklom Hill Lodge
More than 90 per cent of Yaklom Hill Lodge's land is covered with the forest canopy. And so the diversity of native plant species have been providing all year-round habitat and foods for small wildlife, such as birds. With our policy of “no hunting” in the lodge, all the birds and other wildlife here can have freedom of movement, and live here peacefully. This is witnessed by the increasing number of bird species.
With the start list of 23 species of birds made by 2 of our American guests, the bird list has now grown up to more than 60 species and is increasing. Many of our guests continually contributed to the list in terms of adding new species and/or confirming the existence of the birds earlier found.
The identification of bird species is mainly based on Craig Robson’s Birds of Southeast Asia bird book. Many of the species are residents while others are regular or seasonal visitors.
We understand that there are still many kinds of birds in the lodge areas that are not included in the list. The list is updated regularly.
